Islamabad, Aug 21, SPA -- A former army chief will becomePakistan's next ambassador to the United States, theforeign minister said Saturday. Jehangir Karamat will replace Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, acareer diplomat who last month was chosen by the U.N.Secretary-General Kofi Annan as his special representativein Iraq. Foreign Minister Khursheed Kasuri told reporters thatPakistan has informed the U.S. government about itsdecision to appoint Karamat as ambassador and he would takeup the post once his credentials were approved byWashington.
