Near Fallujah, Nov 10, SPA -- U.S. Marines said Americanforces had taken control Wednesday of 70 percent ofFallujah in the third day of a major offensive to retakethe insurgent stronghold. Maj. Francis Piccoli, of the 1st Marine ExpeditionaryForce, said enemy fighters were bottled up in a strip ofthe city flanking the major east-west highway that splitsFallujah. Army and Marine units had pushed south throughthe highway overnight, taking control of more thantwo-thirds of the rebel bastion, Piccoli said. "There's going to be a movement today in those areas.
