Washington, Oct 5, SPA -- The United States is working with Iraq and Syria to improve border security between the two nations, a State Department official said Monday. Adam Ereli, a State Department spokesman, said during a press briefing it is too early to say how successful the Syrians have been in preventing insurgents entering Iraq to fight coalition forces. Officials from the three nations held talks last week to discuss security issues, he added. "We've made it clear pretty consistently that these agreements are positive and welcome, but at the time, their effectiveness will be assessed on the basis of what is done concretely on the ground," Ereli said. --SPA1242 Local Time 0942 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/208173
