Jammu, Sept 18, SPA -- Suspected Muslim insurgents barged into the homes of three civilians, beheaded one and fatallyshot the other two, as government forces killed fivesuspected rebels in a shootout in India's Jammu-Kashmirstate on Saturday, a top police officer said. The unidentified assailants broke into a house in Punchdistrict, then pulled the homeowner from his bed andbeheaded him, said S.M. Sahai, an inspector-general ofpolice. Separately, attackers broke into a house in nearby Rajouridistrict, dragged the two occupants outside and shot themdead, Sahai said. The area is 220 kilometers (135 miles)northwest of Jammu, the winter capital of India'sJammu-Kashmir state. In both incidents, the attackers accused their victims ofbeing police informers, Sahai said.
