Brussels, Sept 9, SPA -- The European Union's (EU) Foreign Policy Chief, Javier Solana met here yesterday with members of the Council of Arab Ambassadors led by Nasser Al-Assaf, the Saudi Ambassador to Belgium and the EU. Al-Assaf briefed Solana on Arabs' view on the EU's stance towards a number of regional issues such as peace in the Middle East, recent threats against Syria and the current situation in Darfur region. On his part, Solana affirmed that the EU maintains the main principles while handling these issues and strongly rejected Israeli threats against Syria. During the meeting, Solana and the ambassadors reviewed means of stabilizing the situation in Iraq.
