Taipei, Safar 7, 1436, Nov 29, 2014, SPA -- Taiwan's prime minister resigned Saturday after a sweeping opposition victory in local elections put President Ma Ying-jeou's Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) on notice, dpa reported. The KMT lost control of nine cities and counties to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), including its stronghold of the capital, Taipei, and the island's third-largest city, Taichung, according to final results. Before Saturday's voting, the KMT had governed 15 of Taiwan's 22 cities and counties. -- SPA 18:13 LOCAL TIME 15:13 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1300521
