U.S. and South Africa Hold Cabinet-Level Strategic Talks On Key Issues Including Syria

Pretoria, South Africa, Ramadan 19, 1433, Aug 7, 2012, SPA - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met here today South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane. The official talks between the two sides focused on trade, other bilateral issues of concern and the response to events in global hotspots. The meeting is the second cabinet-level strategic dialogue between the two nations. South Africa is a member of the U.N. Security Council and the U.S. wants its support in dealing with the worsening crisis in Syria. Hillary Clinton is in South Africa at the midpoint of an 11-day tour that has already taken her to Senegal, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya and Malawi.
