Istanbul, Sha'ban 12, 1433, Jul 2, 2012, SPA - The Turkish parliament voted Monday to abolish the special courts used to prosecute terrorism cases and others considered too serious for regular criminal courts. A package of reforms to the legal system, including the abolition of the special courts proposed by the government, were passed after a marathon 18-hour sitting, state news agency Anatolian reported. The new legislation means that regular courts will now be able to handle cases involving terrorism and other serious offences. --SPA 13:35 LOCAL TIME 10:35 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1012548
