Arab, EU Foreign Ministers Discuss Syrian Crisis

Cairo, Dhu-AlHijjah 28, 1433, Nov 13, 2012, SPA - Arab League and European Union foreign ministers on Tuesday pledged to support the National Coalition of the Syrian opposition, and welcomed their recent steps to unite their ranks. German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle told a meeting in Cairo that his country would support the efforts of the National Coalition of the Syrian opposition towards reconciliation and ending violence, according to a report of DPA. The meeting comes a day after the Arab League recognized the National Coalition of the Syrian opposition as "the legitimate representative of the Syrian people's aspirations." In a statement issued ahead of the meeting, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton welcomed the formation, named the National Coalition.
