Manmohan Singh said, "Anger at this crime is justified, but violence will serve no purpose." In a nation-wide statement addressed to the Indian people, Manmohan Singh said : "I assure you that I will exert all intensive efforts to ensure the security of all women in this country." There has been outrage across India over the Dec. 16 gang rape that left a young woman in critical condition in a hospital. Meanwhile, Authorities have shut down roads in the heart of India's capital to put an end to weeklong demonstrations against the brutal gang rape of the woman, according to a report of the Associated Press.
