Cairo, Safar 10, 1434, Dec 23, 2012, SPA - A majority of Egyptian voters approved a new draft constitution in a referendum, unofficial results showed Sunday. State television said preliminary tallies showed that 63.5 per cent of the ballots cast in the two-stage vote favored the charter. Nearly 71 per cent of those who voted in Saturday's final phase of the referendum approved the draft, the broadcaster was quoted as disclosing by DPA. No specific date has been set yet for an announcement on the official results. Approval of the proposed constitution clears the way for legislative elections within 60 days.
