Makkah, Ramadan 28, 1433, Aug 16, 2012, SPA - The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, held a press conference following the conclusion of the 4th Extraordinary Islamic Solidarity Summit in Makkah last night. In response to a question on the Syrian crisis, the OIC Secretary General said that it is necessary to sympathize with the Syrian oppressed people and to call on the Muslim world and the whole world to resolve this issue peacefully. For his part, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani said in an answer to a question about the representation of Iraq at the Summit, as well as the resolutions of the summit, as for Iraq it was represented by its ambassador to Saudi Arabia, pointing out that the main objective of this summit is to enhance Islamic solidarity. As regards the issue of the situation in Syria, Dr. Madani said it is being dealt with at multiple levels within the framework of the United Nations, Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, noting that there is integration between these international organizations in the way of their tackling of this issue. --SPA 13:34 LOCAL TIME 10:34 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1023010
