United Nations, Muharram 21, 1434, Dec 5, 2012, SPA - The U.N. envoy for Yemen, Jamal Benomar, said Tuesday normalcy is taking hold in most parts of the country one year after the signing of a power-transfer deal that saw former President Ali Abdullah Saleh step down and hand power to his deputy, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Hadi is overseeing an interim government of national unity while an upcoming broad-based national dialogue conference is set to pave the way for national elections in 2014. "One year later, an air of normality has taken hold in most parts of the country. The fight for control of the cities by rival militias has ended with freedom of movement restored throughout major urban centers," Benomar told the U.N. Security Council. --SPA 11:26 LOCAL TIME 08:26 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1055697
