Bamako, Ramadan 11, 1433, Jul 30, 2012, SPA - A unity government should be installed urgently in Mali to prevent a worsening crisis, according to interim President Dioncounda Traore, who addressed the nation in a speech broadcast live on television late Sunday. The 70-year-old spoke ahead of Tuesday's deadline set by regional heads of state for the naming of a national unity government. "Now is the time to mobilize every force we have to save our country from danger," Traore said, after returning to Bamako Friday following a two-month stay in Paris for medical treatment. "A national unity government will represent all components of political society," he was quoted as saying by DPA. He added that two vice presidents should be named for the transition period, one of whom will be charged primarily with matters of defence and security. --SPA 13:17 LOCAL TIME 10:17 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1019038
