CANBERRA, Australia, Rajab 8, 1433, May 29, 2012, SPA - Australia has expelled two Syrian diplomats following last week's massacre of more than 100 people. Foreign Minister Bob Carr says Charge D’affaires Jawdat Ali, the most senior Syrian diplomat in Australia, and another diplomat from the Syrian Embassy have been ordered to leave the country within 72 hours. Carr says he expects other countries to do the same later Tuesday, according to a report of the Associated Press. Carr says the diplomats are being ejected because of last Friday's massacre in Syria that left 108 people dead, including women and children. It was one of the deadliest days in the 15-month-old uprising against President Bashar Assad's rule. Carr called the killings a "hideous and brutal crime." The U.N. estimates 9,000 people have been killed since the uprising began in March 2011. --SPA 12:04 LOCAL TIME 09:04 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1002846
