Belgrade, Jumada II 15, 1433, May 6, 2012, SPA - Voting began Sunday in Serbian elections that are due to decide on a new president, parliament and municipal authorities. Some 6.8 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots in roughly 8,600 polling stations from 7 am until 8 pm (0500-1800 GMT) and choose 250 legislators from more than 3,000 candidates. In the presidential race, no candidate is expected to win more than half of the votes cast, in which case a run-off will be held in two weeks, according to a report of DPA. Pre-election surveys tipped that Boris Tadic, who resigned in April to force the presidential poll eight months early, will face the opposition leader Tomislav Nikolic in the second round. The first unofficial results, based on calculations from a sample, are expected within two hours after voting ends. Voting for parliament and president are also taking place in Kosovo under the auspices of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). --SPA 11:28 LOCAL TIME 08:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/995364
