Washington, Sha'ban 24, 1433, Jul 14, 2012, SPA - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday she was “outraged” by reports of a new massacre of civilians in Syria and demanded that the U.N. Security Council take action to stop the violence. Hillary Clinton said in a statement that the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “deliberately murdered innocent civilians” in the village of Traymseh using artillery, tanks, and helicopters as it tries to suppress 16 months of unrest, and she called for a cease-fire in and around Hama to allow the U.N. observer mission to enter the village. The U.S. Secretary of State warned that history will judge the Security Council if it fails to act. “History will judge this council,” she wrote. “Its members must ask themselves whether continuing to allow the Assad regime to commit unspeakable violence against its own people is the legacy they want to leave.” --SPA 11:10 LOCAL TIME 08:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/1015311
