Washington, Rabi'I 30, 1433, Feb 22, 2012, SPA - The White House on Tuesday apologized for the burning of copies of the Holy Qur'an in a U.S. military base in Afghanistan. White House Spokesman Jay Carney said it was a "deeply unfortunate incident" and does not reflect the respect the U.S. military has for the religious practices of the Afghan people. Carney echoed military officials by saying that the Qur'an burning at Bagram Air Field happened unintentionally, and that an investigation was underway to understand why it did and ensure that it does not happen again. --SPA 11:43 LOCAL TIME 08:43 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/972698
