Saudi students wins 'Outstanding Performance' award at Huawei ICT competition

The first Saudi team has won the "Outstanding Performance" award in the finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2022 Middle East. The competition concluded on Friday in Oman, as the names of the winners of Middle East and North Africa region were announced. The first Saudi team consisted of Yasser Al-Baali from the College of Technology in Dammam; Abrar Al-Ghamdi from the University of Dammam; Rakan Al-Harthi from the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation. While the second Saudi team consisted of Saad Al-Ghamdi from the Saudi Electronic University; Izdihar Khoja from King Abdulaziz University; Hatim Fatani of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation. Fifteen teams of characterized technical talents were competing in the competition. They were selected from the short-list which included 19,000 participants from 472 universities within 11 countries throughout Middle East and North Africa. The Jordanian team from Yarmouk University has won the first prize of $20,000, followed by the Pakistani team and the Iraqi team winning the second prize. The teams of UAE, Bahrain and Kazakhstan jointly won the third prize. The winners will represent the Middle East and Central Asia in the global finals of the competition, which will be held next year in Shanghai, China. It is noteworthy that Huawei has honored all women who were participating in the competition this year with the Women In Tech award, in addition to honoring all the teachers with the Best Teacher award. Forty-five students, of those who participated in the competition, were selected within an internship program at Huawei in their countries.
