A fire at the Lanaz refinery in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil has been brought under control by civil defense teams, the Saud Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday quoting local sources. The director of civil defense teams in Erbil said no casualties were reported. Sirkot Karsh, the spokesman of the Civil Defense, said that, however, nine fuel reservoirs were affected. Photos shared earlier by the Iraqi news agency INA showed a big blaze and dark fumes at the refinery, located on al-Kuwayr-Erbil road. The cause of the fire was not clear and no further information was immediately available. An investigation into the incident, which lasted for hours, was underway to determine the reasons for the fire, Karsh said. — Agencies
