The Club, through its activities, aspires to be pioneering in development and creativity in the hobby of falconry, and breeding, as a cultural and economic source, and as a platform for promoting environmental awareness. Since its inception five years ago, the King Abdulaziz Falcon Festival has allowed the participation of many Saudi and international professional and amateur falconers, as the largest gathering of falcons and the largest event of its kind worldwide. Khalifa Al-Dosari - one of the participating falconers - said that the festival contributes to enhancing the hobby of falconry among the participants, adding that the prizes offered by the Festival also contribute to encouraging falconers from inside and outside the Kingdom to participate. Barghash Al-Mansoori, also a participating falconer, explained that the Festival provided many falconers the opportunity to participate and promote the hobby and even become professional, adding that the creation of new runs alongside the professional runs allowed a large number of amateurs to participate, which will contribute to developing their levels and gaining more skills, experience, and access to professionalism. The festival in its current edition allocated prizes amounting to a total value of SR30 million and includes two competitions; Al-Melwah (400 meters) and Al-Mazayen, designated for selecting the most beautiful falcons. --SPA 15:59 LOCAL TIME 12:59 GMT 0017 www.spa.gov.sa/w1821659
