Sharm El Sheikh, November 07, 2022, SPA -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that the Middle East Green Initiative represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen cooperation among its member states in order to mobilize more investments and provide new mechanisms for innovative financing to support projects undertaken by countries to address climate change, in coordination with Arab and regional financial institutions that play an important role in this regard, adding that the initiative also serves as an ideal framework for strengthening technical cooperation and connecting research institutions in member countries in order to promote integration of research and applied programs relevant to climate change technologies. In his speech at Middle East Green Initiative Summit, taking place within the activities of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), President El-Sisi said: “ When HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, proposed holding the Middle East Green Initiative's second summit in Sharm El Sheikh alongside the Climate Summit, I came to the realization that it would be an appropriate opportunity to provide more information on this significant project that was started almost a year ago to address one of the necessary issues related to climate action in the Arab and Middle East, which is more affected than other regions by the negative impacts of climate change on the quality of agricultural lands and soil fertility in addition to the steady rise in temperatures, water scarcity, and drought. --SPA 21:48 LOCAL TIME 18:48 GMT 0038 www.spa.gov.sa/w1810266
