IPU Assembly Continues Meetings with Participation of Saudi Shura Council Delegation

Riyadh, October 13, 2022, SPA -- The 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Governing Council, Standing Committees continued meetings in Rwanda with the participation of a delegation from the Saudi Shura Council headed by Assistant Speaker of Shura Council Dr. Hanan bint Abdulraheem Al-Ahmadi. Of the sidelines of the meetings, Al-Ahmadi held meeting with IPU President Duarte Pacheco. The meeting went over cooperation aspects between the Shura Council and IPU as part of the importance of the roles it assumes and out of the significance of the IPU meetings, through which parliaments seek to reach tangible outcomes, where the meeting also discussed several issues in the international arena. During the meeting, Al-Ahmadi stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks to ensure the stability of the global energy market through its work with OPEC+ in a bid to realize public interest and serve both producers and consumers. She also noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks a political solution in Yemen according to the three references in a way that realizes unity for Yemen and welfare of its people, where the meeting also reviewed the humanitarian roles made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), and its humanitarian, development and economic assistance. Meanwhile, Al-Ahmadai held a meeting with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Rwanda Donatille Mukabalisa at the headquarters of the Rwandan Parliament in Kigali. She also met with head of the Emirati delegation, member of Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and member of the executive committee at IPU Dr. Ali Al-Nuaimi and members of the delegation. The assistant speaker also met with head of the delegation of The Netherlands and Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council of Qatar Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al-Sulaiti and her accompanying delegation.
