Arab-African Conference on Food Security Kicks off Today

Tunis, October 08, 2022, SPA -- The Arab-African Conference on the role of the public and private sectors kicked off its activities today in Tunisia, to promote sustainable agriculture and food security, with the participation of Arab and African experts and specialists, and international organizations interested in food security and sustainable agricultural development. The two-day event will discuss the food security strategy in the Arab region and Africa, the status of food and nutrition security in the world, and the role of scientific research in promoting it. During the conference, the participants will debate several scientific proposals and research on making agriculture more productive and sustainable and the role of the public and private sectors in ensuring food security in the Arab world and Africa. The conference aims to provide an opportunity for the private and public sectors to initiate international relations to research new paths for agriculture and food while suggesting ways to make agriculture more productive and sustainable. It will also discuss poverty, hunger, and malnutrition and means of how to address and reduce them, the need to use smart farming methods by harnessing technology and innovation as one of the effective solutions for sustainable agriculture, as well as search for solutions to climate change through the use of modern and smart technology and identify appropriate work mechanisms to encourage agricultural investment opportunities in Arab and African countries. --SPA 21:09 LOCAL TIME 18:09 GMT 0015 www.spa.gov.sa/w1795518
