Riyadh, October 28, 2022, SPA -- Assistant Minister of Finance for Macro-Fiscal Policies and International Relations Abdulmohsen bin Saad Al-Khalaf has participated in the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The meeting, which was held virtually last Wednesday, discussed a number of topics related to the Bank's business, including progress made in implementing the Bank's priorities since the previous meeting, in addition to holding two working sessions under the themes "Financing Infrastructure Projects in a Crises-Prone World" and "Supporting Access energy and the Transition to Net Zero Emissions". In his speech, the Assistant Minister of Finance for macro-financial policies and international relations praised the Bank's rapid response to emerging and overlapping crises, calling on it to make supporting energy access and enhancing food security a priority during the next stage. He pointed out that there are about 770 million people around the world who still live without access to electricity, indicating that full access to electricity by 2030 will require connecting nearly 100 million people each year. He added that in order to support the seventh goal of the sustainable development goals related to ensuring access to sustainable, reliable, modern and affordable energy sources that are available to all, the Bank must adopt a balanced approach in dealing with energy security, promoting economic growth and addressing climate change, through inclusiveness in energy investments and the use of modern technologies to address hydrocarbon emissions, stressing the importance of promoting circular approaches, particularly the carbon circular economy framework. -SPA 17:38 LOCAL TIME 14:38 GMT 0014 www.spa.gov.sa/w1805068
