Jordan-GCC Trade Exchange Hits JD2.8b in H1 of 2022

Amman, September 25, 2022, SPA -- Jordan's trade with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states climbed to JD2.804 billion in the first half of 2022, up from JD2.044 billion in the same period last year. Jordanian exports to GCC nations increased in the first six months of 2022 to JD635 million from JD612 million in the corresponding period of 2021, according to statistical data analyzed by the Jordan News Agency (Petra). During the January-July period of 2022, Jordanian imports from GCC countries jumped to over JD2.169 billion, compared to nearly JD1.432 billion during the same time the previous year. The Kingdom's largest trading partner within the Gulf Cooperation Council was Saudi Arabia. During the reporting period, Jordanian-Saudi trade totaled approximately JD1.85 billion, an increase of more than JD400 million from the JD1.42 billion recorded during the same period in 2021. The trade balance is heavily skewed in favor of Saudi Arabia, which shipped JD1.46 billion worth of goods to Jordan during the six-month period, compared to JD390 million in imports from Jordan.
