Riyadh, August 16, 2022, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the transport and logistics services system, participated in the Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan, in Awaza tourist area between 15 and 16 August 2022, in the presence of representatives from 39 countries and 34 international organizations. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation was headed by Vice President of the Transport General Authority Eng. Fahad Al-Badah and included representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, General Authority of Civil Aviation, and Saudi Ports Authority. The conference went over means to enhance the role of transport to realize sustainable recovery for landlocked developing countries following the COVID-19 pandemic, expertise, solutions and initiatives to improve and finance the transport sector to achieve sustainable economic recovery. Eng. Al-Badah, during the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s speech, referred to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s launching of the National Transport and Logistic Services Strategy as part of the Saudi Vision 2030, with the aim of making the sector sustainable and can anticipate the future and enable national capabilities to instill the status of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a global logistical hub and a comprehensive model for transport, calling for exerting more efforts and exchanging expertise to alleviate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and contribute to the recovery of the economy and other sectors. He stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during the pandemic, has offered a model for integration between the work of the public, private and non-profit sectors, relying on several measures and initiatives, such as providing exemptions and postponing some government allowances to provide liquidity for the private sector to be able to administrate its economic activities, including the transport and logistics services activities. Eng. Al-Badah referred to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s belief that the impacts of climate change are not only limited to the natural environment, but also cover the economy and security through coordinating regional efforts and sharing expertise and technologies to realize accelerating achievements in this side, referring to Saudi Arabia’s endeavors through the Middle East Green Initiative to reduce carbon emissions through several initiatives and reaching net zero emissions by 2060 via the carbon circular economy in a way that accords with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s development plans and contributes to diversifying its economy. --SPA 15:22 LOCAL TIME 12:22 GMT 0014 www.spa.gov.sa/w1773526
