Riyadh, June 20, 2022, SPA -- The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) announced that it has completed procedures for the second tender of wheat purchased from overseas Saudi investors. The Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) was selected to supply (300,000 MT) of wheat distributed to (5) shipments, which will arrive during (November 2022-January 2023). The third and last tender will be completed during its specified periods until the end of July 2022. Governor of SAGO Eng. Ahmad Al-Fares stated that the contracted quantity represents the second batch of SAGO’s purchases from Saudi investors abroad, which is 20% of the total allocated quantity, that is about (700,000 MT) of the Kingdom’s consumption. The tender comes within the framework of maintaining the strategic stocks and diversifying the wheat resources by increasing reliance on overseas Saudi investments and linking them to the local consumption. He pointed out that this is consecutively the third year in which wheat is purchased from Saudi investors abroad.
