More than 120,000 Lighting Units at Grand Holy Mosque

Makkah, April 20, 2022, SPA -- The Grand Holy Mosque and its yards have lighting units that are connected to a special control station, where the Grand Holy Mosque has the latest global technologies in lighting and controlling it, where the mosque has more than 120,000 lighting units, including big chandeliers and lanterns with various shapes and sizes inside and outside the Grand Holy Mosque and in the second Saudi expansion, in addition to more than 1,000 lighting units that are installed on the columns and external walls of the mosque. These chandeliers, lanterns and lights are characterized with a beautiful gradual formation and light the mosque, its yards, roof and minarets, forming a unique necklace of lighting that was made specially for the Grand Holy Mosque with certain sizes and shapes, which highlights the level of care in the Two Holy Mosques and expanding and developing their facilities. The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and Prophet’s Holy Mosque periodically implements necessary maintenance for the lighting of the Grand Holy Mosque. The chandeliers, lanterns and light bulbs, provided by the Agency of Projects and Engineering Studies in the presidency, are known for saving energy through using LED with the aim of increasing efficiency of lighting and saving energy, in addition to their unique design that matches the architectural design of the Grand Holy Mosque, where these lighting units are made of gold-plated stainless steel with a thickness of 2 microns, where each chandelier weighs 280 kilograms with a layer of protection of lucker of high ability to resist scratches and shocks, where the suspension system is characterized by high dynamics and flexibility “duplex” that is known for resisting air currents and climate change, according to the best technical specifications and engineering practices followed in this field and according to the Saudi building code. --SPA 12:46 LOCAL TIME 09:46 GMT 0015 www.spa.gov.sa/w1723368
