Saudi Arabia, Oman Sign Five Memorandums of Understanding in Commercial, Media Fields

Muscat, December 7, 2021, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman have signed five memorandums of understanding in the commercial and media fields, on the sidelines of the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to Oman. Two of the memorandums are related to enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the commercial fields, standardization, specifications, quality, calibration and laboratories, where these two memos were signed by Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi and Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef. The memo in the commercial fields stipulates exchanging expertise in the fields of enhancing the competitiveness of national industries; providing protection for national production against harmful practices in international trade; getting acquainted with experiences in developing the ease of doing business index, e-commerce, and mechanism to control e-commerce; the mechanism of organizing promotional offers and exchanging expertise and information in several commercial fields and marketing research; encouraging holding joint economic and commercial activities in a bid to increase the level of commercial exchange in intra-trade and international trade, as well as means to develop them and studying markets and exportation opportunities. The memo in the standardization field stipulates exchanging information, data and studies in various standardization fields, scientific research, cooperation in the fields of specifications, quality, calibration and laboratories as agreed between the two sides, encouraging holding training courses, exchanging scientific research and expert visit, cooperating in protecting and the safety of consumers, and ensuring the importance of applying standards issues by the two countries, in addition to cooperation in the fields of verifying standards and mutual accreditation between the two countries. Also, the two countries signed three memorandums in media fields related to enhancing cooperation in the fields of visual, audio and print media, producing media content and the cinema industry, exchanging media studies and research, and exchanging news and relevant technologies.
