On Behalf of HRH Crown Prince, Makkah Region Governor Attends Conclusion of Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Jeddah, March 28, 2022, SPA -- On Behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, Sunday attended the conclusion of Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sport, rewarded driver Max Verstappen of the Red Bull team for winning the first place at Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2022 which was held on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, where the race witnessed severe competition during the final laps with the Monaco racing driver Charles Leclerc of the Ferrari team who headed drivers in most times of the race before Verstappen managed to overtake Leclerc before three laps of the finish line and finished the race by 0.549 seconds. Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and Chairman of the Saudi Motorsport Company, honored Leclerc who won the second place, while Governor of the Public Investment Fund Yasir bin Othman Al-Rumayyan honored Spanish racing driver Carlos Sainz of the Ferrari team. At the end of this big event, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal said: “We were happy today for the presence of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region of Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for this season, as is the second time that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosts one of the rounds of this prestigious race with the participation of 20 racers representing 10 global teams, which embodies the continuous attention that we receive from the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, which was seen on the ground and contributed to the success in achieving unprecedented sport achievements that can play a role in realizing Saudi Vision 2030.” The prince added: “I congratulate all drivers and top winners of the race and I wish them more successes in coming rounds of this global race, and I also want to express my pride in the people of our beloved homeland who had a distinguished touch in organizing this global race and event, where more than 800 Saudi marshals (males and females) participated in this event, in addition to organizing the reception and attendance of 200 journalists to cover this event representing 151 media outlets from 70 countries to transfer the full image of big potential that we own in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that proved its excellence in hosting such major events.” Mexican racing driver Sergio Pérez of the Red Bull Racing driver came fourth, George Russell of the Mercedes team came fifth, Esteban Ocon of Team Alpine finished sixth, Lando Norris of McLaren Team came seventh, Pierre Gasly of Team Alpha Tauri finished eighth, Kevin Magnussen of Haas Team ranked ninth and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes team ranked tenth. --SPA 02:27 LOCAL TIME 23:27 GMT 0002 www.spa.gov.sa/w1713273
