Riyadh, March 25, 2022, SPA-- The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association is joining scout associations around the world by participating in the "Earth Hour" that takes place today at 08:30 pm. The Vice President of the Association, Dr. Abdullah Al-Fahad, said the Association’s secretariat is keen to participate in this occasion for the 12th consecutive year due to its importance in encouraging others to take initiatives to rationalize electricity consumption, preserve the environment and spread awareness to protect the earth, and protect the future and prosperity of the generations. He stressed that activating scouts and participating in Earth Hour greatly contributes to the benefit of nature, as it embodies an hour of inspiration, solidarity, and teamwork to achieve a lofty goal in the interest of all, especially since it is not only about turning off the lights for an hour, but spreading awareness of this occasion and preserving the environment through social media platforms, especially with the current global circumstances, which have become a more appropriate opportunity to harness social media platforms to achieve the goal of educating communities. Dr. Al-Fahad called on the employees of the Scout Movement in the Kingdom to interact with this occasion by turning off the lights at 8:30 pm on Saturday, spending one hour without electric lights and investing this time in engaging in different and enjoyable activities, such as playing a game with family or friends under candlelight or socializing with the family, or star gazing while taking the necessary precautions. --SPA 19:45 LOCAL TIME 16:45 GMT 0020 www.spa.gov.sa/w1712457
