Aden, Oct 21, 2021, SPA -- Yemeni government welcomed the United Nations Security Council's press release issued yesterday, which called for an immediate nationwide ceasefire, including an immediate halt to the escalation of the terrorist Houthi militia in Ma'rib and a commitment to a Yemeni-led political solution as per the provisions of the Council's relevant resolutions, including Resolution 2216. Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs reiterated, in a statement reported by the official Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Yemeni government's support for the UN Security Council's condemnation of the attacks on the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the increasing attacks on commercial and civilian vessels near the Yemeni coast and the recruitment of children. The statement said that the government of Yemen realizes that the only way to end the human suffering of Yemenis and full compliance with international humanitarian law and international human rights can be achieved by ending the coup and the war ignited by Houthi militias, renewing the government's position in support of efforts aimed at achieving peace, especially the efforts led by the Special Envoy of UN Secretary-General for Yemen Hans Grundberg, aimed at resuming the political process and reaching a comprehensive political solution under the umbrella of the United Nations. --SPA 21:00 LOCAL TIME 18:00 GMT 0024 www.spa.gov.sa/w1638424
