Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration Launches International Edition of SCCA Arabic Moot

Riyadh, September 12, 2021, SPA -- The Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) has announced the opening of registration for the 3rd SCCA Arabic Moot "International Edition", targeting undergraduate students at Sharia and law schools in all universities around the globe. The 3rd SCCA Arabic Moot is organized by SCCA, in partnership with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce. In the international edition, teams will compete by arguing, in Arabic, a hypothetical arbitration case simulating international commercial cases, thus enhancing the practical dimension of the students’ academic study. The SCCA Arabic Moot, that will include several stages, is part of Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration’s role in spreading the culture of commercial arbitration in Arabic language in the local, regional and international legal community by consolidating arbitration practices that are compatible with the best international standards and practices among students of Sharia and law schools. The Moot’s awards include Best Team Award, Best Claimant Memo Award, Best Respondent Memo Award, Best Oralist for Claimant Award, Best Oralist for Respondent Award. This is in addition to training grants in the International Fellowship Program in Commercial Arbitration offered by the SCCA in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
