OIC Delegation Discusses with Chairman of ECOWAS Commission Ways to Enhance Cooperation between Two Organizations

Jeddah, Mar. 07, 2022, SPA -- Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, received, at the organization's headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, a high-level delegation of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) headed by the Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Ambassador Youssef bin Mohammed Al-Dubaie. During the meeting, Al-Dubaie affirmed the special interest OIC attaches to the peace, security and stability of the region, expressing his appreciation for the tireless efforts made by ECOWAS in this regard. He also expressed OIC's concern about the recent developments in the region, especially in the Republic of Mali, the Republic of Guinea and Burkina Faso, affirming its support for all efforts aimed at reaching solutions to these crises, and its willingness to contribute to them in a manner that preserves the security and stability of these countries and the higher interests of their people. The meeting discussed ways to lay the foundations for dialogue and partnership between the two organizations to serve common goals and integrate efforts, especially in the political and development fields and combat terrorism and extremism in the region.
