Doha, Feb. 14, 2022, SPA -- Representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) stressed the importance of meeting urgent humanitarian needs, contributing to mobilizing international support to provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, improving economic conditions, finding appropriate solutions to the challenges facing humanitarian work in Afghanistan, and securing and enabling humanitarian relief convoys to deliver aid to those in need. During a meeting in Doha today with representatives of the de-facto authority in Afghanistan, the GCC officials expressed their organization's firm stances towards Afghanistan, respecting its sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity and non-interference in its internal affairs, including the right of women to work and get educated, to achieve the aspirations of the Afghan people. They also condemned the terrorist operations against Afghanistan, which target civilians and civilian institutions, stressing the GCC's solidarity with Afghanistan, to ensure its security and stability. The GCC Representatives expressed concern that terrorist organizations would find an opportunity to use Afghanistan as a launching platform to practice their activities to attack other countries or undermine their interests, stressing the need for the de-facto authority in Afghanistan to ensure that Afghan lands are not used by any terrorist group, or abused to export drugs to other countries, underlinging the importance of adhering to resolutions of the United Nations as well as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in this regard. --SPA 21:20 LOCAL TIME 18:20 GMT 0028 www.spa.gov.sa/w1691501
