GCC and EU 30th Meeting of Joint Cooperation Committee Concludes its Work

Riyadh, February 04, 2022, SPA -- The Joint Cooperation Committee between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States and the European Union (EU) concluded its 30th meeting, in Riyadh, yesterday. This meeting is held annually alternately between the GCC and the European Union, within the joint cooperation agreement signed between the two sides in 1988. The GCC side was represented by the Assistant Secretary for Political Affairs and Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaisheq, while the EU side was represented by the Deputy Director General for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the European External Action Service, Carl Hallergaard. The meeting, reviewed all joint files in preparation for their presentation to the 26th session of the Joint Ministerial Council between the GCC and the EU. The meeting also discussed the progress of work in a number of areas of cooperation and existing activities, in the field of trade and investment, energy supply, climate change, green transformation, judicial cooperation, counter-terrorism, countering violent extremism, digital transformation, education and scientific research, and humanitarian and development aid. --SPA 17:14 LOCAL TIME 14:14 GMT 0018 www.spa.gov.sa/w1687361
