Minister of Sports Launches Strategy to Support Saudi Sports Federations, Program to Develop Elite Athletes

Riyadh, November 17, 2021, SPA -- Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, today launched the strategy to support Saudi sports federations with a budget of SAR2.6 billion as part of the Quality of Life Program. On the occasion, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal expressed appreciation and gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for their big interest and support to the sports sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which contributed greatly to making the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia among developed countries in the sports field worldwide. In a press statement, the Prince said: “In light of the unprecedented support of our wise leadership and the follow up and interest of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, the Saudi sports has achieved advanced steps globally, the latest of which is winning the bid to host the Asian Games in 2034 for the first time in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the increasing number of Saudi sports federations from 32 in 2015 to 91 sports federations and unions this year.
