Riyadh, January 06, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that the 41st GCC Summit, held in Al-Ula, is the summit of brotherhood, reconciliation and unifying ranks, where the GCC leaders, with their great wisdom, made a significant achievement that was greatly welcomed by the peoples of the GCC states and the nation. The distinguished success achieved by the summit in consolidating solidarity and reunification reflects the great stature that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques enjoys for his keenness in preserving the cohesion of the Gulf system, the newspaper added. The newspaper concluded that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince affirmed that this high determination and the new stage of the Council’s march embodies the Kingdom’s policy aimed at achieving the supreme interests of the GCC and Arab countries, in a way that achieves its security and stability and promotes good and prosperity. Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that holding the GCC summit in Saudi Arabia, "the Summit of Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah", represents a historic turning point on the regional, Arab and global levels. The summit was convened with the consensus of all Gulf leaders due to the efforts made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to end the dispute that afflicted the Council. The Saudi efforts were supported by the efforts of Kuwait and its good endeavors to restore harmony to the GCC, as well as the support of friendly countries, especially the United States. The main goal remains always present, which is to promote full cooperation, as well as strengthening the Gulf system. All these efforts, good intentions and diligence of the Gulf leaders led to the signing of Al-Ula Declaration, the newspaper added. The paper pointed to HRH the Crown Prince's previous speech where he stressed that the supreme interests of the Gulf system remain the most important, despite all the circumstances, including protecting the gains in the Gulf arena. This summit also came to block the way for the interventions of regional countries, which sought to exploit the Gulf dispute for their benefit. There is no way to resolve disputes except through fraternal political methods. The Iranian threat has never stopped. These Iranian actions put us in a position to call the international community to work seriously in order to stop these programs and projects that threaten regional and international peace and security, the Crown Prince said. The next stage must witness progress on the level of Gulf integration. This is also an extension of the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, which he presented during the Council's summit in December 2015, to reach the aspirations of all Gulf countries. The solidarity that appeared in its best form at the "Al-Ula summit" can provide the GCC countries with further progress, prosperity and empowerment in all fields, the newspaper concluded. --SPA 09:49 LOCAL TIME 06:49 GMT 0010 www.spa.gov.sa/w1479655
