Italy Reports 37 Coronavirus Deaths on Monday, 1,612 New Cases

Milan, Oct. 04, 2021, SPA -- Italy reported 37 coronavirus-related deaths on Monday against 33 the day before, the health ministry said, while the daily tally of new infections fell to 1,612 from 2,968, Reuters reported. Italy has registered 131,068 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its outbreak emerged in February last year, the second-highest toll in Europe after Britain and the ninth-highest in the world. The country has reported 4.68 million cases to date. Patients in hospital with COVID-19, not including those in intensive care, stood at 3,032 on Monday, up from 2,991 a day earlier. There were 22 new admissions to intensive care units, up from 21 on Sunday. The total number of intensive care patients increased to 437 from a previous 431.
