Cairo, Mar. 29, 2021, SPA -- Egypt welcomed the "Saudi Green" and the "Middle East Green" initiatives, announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, which aim to partner with the countries of the Middle East to plant an additional 40 billion trees in the region, contributing to restore an area equivalent to 200 million hectares of degraded land, and reduce 2.5% of global carbon levels. In a statement issued today, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment appreciated the ambitious initiative which indicates the interest that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches to the fields of environmental preservation and international climate action, expressing its aspiration to effectively participate with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in activating and implementing this initiative in a way that contributes to supporting environmental action in the Middle East. --SPA 19:08 LOCAL TIME 16:08 GMT 0028 www.spa.gov.sa/w1532785
