Nouakchott, Apr. 29, 2021, SPA -- Gen. Christopher Cavoli, Regional Commander General of the U.S. Army for Europe and Africa, and his deputy Gen. Andrew Rohling, confirmed US military’s commitment to partnership and cooperation on security matters with partners in West Africa. This came at the end of the US military senior officials tour in West Africa that took them to Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast and Niger, during which they held discussions with military partners and government officials as well as with US ambassadors in the pertinent countries on military and security matters of mutual concern. Gen. Cavoli said that despite the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic on the African continent, the US military remains committed to be engaged with its partners in West African and prepared to continue coordinate training and security cooperation.
