Saudi Arabia Takes Part in Works of United Nations Commission on Status of Women

Riyadh, March 13, 2021, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will take part in the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations (CSW) to be held in New York from 15 to 26 March, which is devoted to discuss the full and effective participation of women in the decision-making in public life, and efforts to eliminate violence against women and means to their empowerment, as well as achieving gender equality. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be represented by a delegation headed by Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri, and with participation of Chair of the Women’s Committee in the Family Affairs Council Dr. Lana bint Saeed, Representative of the Women Empowerment Agency at the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development Dr. Hind bint Khalid Al-Zahid, and Representative of the Human Rights Commission Dr. Amaal Al-Habdan. During the session’s various activities, the delegation will review the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to protect women in light of the Corona pandemic, the financial, social and health empowerment aspects for women in the Saudi Vision 2030, the job opportunities for women, the qualification and training that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers through the civil society associations, as well as briefing the participants on the efforts that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been implementing to address the domestic violence, and to provide means of protection to ensure a safe and a stable life. The delegation will also take part in a number of virtual meetings where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will organize an event on the sidelines of these meetings entitled "Women's Economic Empowerment" on March 22, 2021, to discuss the chances to improve women's economic empowerment. --SPA 21:40 LOCAL TIME 18:40 GMT 0018 www.spa.gov.sa/w1521124
