Saudi Press: Competent Authorities Thwart Smuggling of over 90 Million Amphetamine Pills in Just Three Months

Riyadh, April 06, 2021, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Okaz newspaper reported in its editorial that the sources of the attempts to smuggle and promote drugs have become exposed to the security authorities in the Gulf states. The newspaper pointed to the Ministry of Interior’s announcement that the competent authorities were able to seize and thwart the smuggling of more than 90 million amphetamine pills, 7.9 tons of hashish and 5.5 kilograms of cocaine in just three months. The security authorities and their partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia give the most wonderful examples in confronting all failed attempts to reach and weaken our country through captagon pills and other types of drugs, the newspaper concluded. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the successes achieved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in activating artificial intelligence (AI) programs can only be described as huge, tremendous and qualitative leaps that takes the country into a new vibrant world that harnesses technologies in order to accelerate business and realize all objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s advancement in the Global AI Index from 29th place to 22nd in just two years affirms the leadership’s keenness to harness technology in a way that brings the state's projects and programs to another stage of progress and prosperity, the newspaper added. The newspaper also pointed to the speech of HRH the Crown Prince during the Global AI Summit that was held recently. He invited all innovators, investors and opinion leaders to join the Kingdom’s efforts and build a pioneering model that unlocks the power of data and AI to advance knowledge economies for both present and future generations. Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian efforts continue to reach and provide assistance for people everywhere. Moreover, the Kingdom is the first to provide aid and assistance to world countries whenever they suffer from any crisis. The newspaper further said that King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) humanitarian aid and projects that reach numerous countries in Africa and Asia is a clear evidence that the Kingdom’s humanitarian approach is without borders and discrimination.
