KAICIID Organizes Expert Consultation on Combating Hate Speech

Riyadh, April 22, 2021, SPA -- King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) organized expert consultation on combating a hate speech in collaboration among various religious values institutions and relevant organizations, and in cooperation with the European Council of Religious Leaders, the Religions for Peace in Europe, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. The meeting aimed to explore tracks and efforts to combat hate speech in Europe through strengthening ties between the religious and political entities and the civil society. At the outset of the meeting, Secretary General of the KAICIID Faisal bin Muaammar delivered a speech, in which he welcomed the organizing partners and the participants, expressing his happiness to participate in this meeting and witness this institutional, religious and geographical diversity in this meeting. He affirmed the importance of the roles of multi-national religious and humanitarian institutions that believe in the innate dignity of the human being and in the innate value of the individual. "The people have the right of being respected and valued, regardless of their religion, gender and identity. These are firm and deep-rooted facts, while the hate speech and its crimes aim to destabilize and demolish these facts," he added.
