Arab Health Ministers’ Executive Office Holds Virtual Meeting in Cairo

Cairo, March 14, 2021, SPA -- The Executive Office of the Council of Arab Health Ministers held a virtual preparatory meeting today, headed by Egypt, preceding the 54th session of the Arab Ministerial Council, which will take place virtually tomorrow, Monday, to be presided by Tunisia. The Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said the Executive Office’s agenda will include reviewing the latest developments and the response of member states in confronting the Covid-9, in addition to discussing the report and recommendations of the advisory technical committees emanating from the Council, both with regard to health and environment issues. Abu Ghazaleh added that the agenda will also include discussing a draft Arab framework law aimed for the protection and support of the rights of the elderly, and reviewing the Arab strategy for a health-friendly budget for which the first draft has been prepared, as well as the announcement of the Arab Doctor Award for 2021, and the honoring of the three winning doctors selected by the Arab Doctor Committee for the year 2021. Abu Ghazaleh pointed out that the meeting will also discuss the international Arab cooperation including the Arab-Chinese and the Arab-US cooperation in the health sector, within the framework of activating a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was signed previously between the Arab League and the US State Department, and included a number of areas of cooperation, including health fields. --SPA 20:36 LOCAL TIME 17:36 GMT 0024 www.spa.gov.sa/w1522544
