Sudan Declares State of Emergency for Three Months

Khartoum, September 05, 2020, SPA -- Sudanese Security and Defense Council declared a state of emergency across Sudan for a period of three months, considering the country as a natural disaster zone, following the recent torrents and floods. In a statement, Sudanese Minister of Labor and Social Development Lina Al-Sheikh said that the Council decided to form a supreme committee to address the effects of floods, which affected 16 states of Sudan, killing 99 citizens and injuring 46 others, affecting more than half a million people and causing total and partial collapse for more than 100,000 houses. -- SPA 13:34 LOCAL TIME 10:34 GMT 0004 www.spa.gov.sa/w1404426
