Washington, Jun 27, 2020, SPA -- U.S. F-22 stealth fighter aircraft scrambled today to intercept four Russian reconnaissance jets off Alaska, said the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). NORAD said in a statement that the Russian reconnaissance aircraft flied 65 nautical miles south of the Aleutian Island chain and remained in international airspace for nearly eight hours, without entering the American or Canadian airspace. The NORAD commander, General Terrence O'Shaughnessy commented that this year alone, Russian military aircraft, including bombers, fighters and naval patrol aircraft, were intercepted by US fighter jets on ten separate occasions while flying in the international airspace. --SPA 01:52 LOCAL TIME 22:52 GMT 0019 www.spa.gov.sa/w1358982
