COVID-19 Follow-up Committee Affirms Importance of Staying Home

Riyadh, April 06, 2020, SPA -- The committee concerned with following up the health situation of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) held here today its 74th meeting under chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah in the presence of the committee's members representing a number of relevant governmental entities. The committee reviewed the reports and developments of the virus as well as the epidemiological situation of the virus worldwide including the confirmed cases in the Kingdom and was reassured of their health situations, affirming the importance of continuation of applying and enhancing all precautionary measures at all entry ports as well as other precautionary measures to confront and contain the virus. The committee hailed the current commitment of everyone to the curfew order, calling on them to stay at home except in case of necessity. Following the meeting, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aali, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health; Naif Al-Otaibi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and Eng. Anas Al-Sulaiee, Spokesperson of the Tourism Ministry, held today a joint press conference. The Spokesperson of the Health Ministry reported that the total number of confirmed cases with the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world amounted to 1,300,000, adding that 265,000 cases recovered so far. He disclosed that the number of deaths from COVID-19 reached 70,000. "As many as 138 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed in the Kingdom. The confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom are 2523, including 1934 diagnosed as active," he said, adding that 63 cases have recovered today, bringing to 551 the total number of recoverees. He stated that the total number of deaths from Coronavirus is 38. He called on whoever has symptoms or would like to check-up, to use the self-assessment service in MAWID electronic application, and inquire or consult the Health Center (937) around the clock. Meanwhile, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and Eng. Anas Al-Sulaiee, disclosed that 130,000 field tours were made to ensure food safety, and that 66,000 sites sterilized and disinfected. For his part, Eng.
