Cairo, Feb. 01, 2020, SPA -- The Arab League Council on Saturday vehemently rejected the US-proposed Middle East peace plan, dubbed "deal of the century", on the grounds that it violates the reference points of the peace process, the international law and the UN resolutions. At the conclusion of the Arab league foreign ministers extraordinary meeting, held in Cairo today, the Council urged the US to commit to an enduring peace process backed by the intentional law. The resolution highlighted the Palestinian cause as the Arab country's primary concern, saying US President Donald Trump's proposal to resolve the decades-long Middle East conflict should not be considered let alone materialize. It cited the Arab peace initiative as the base minimum in terms of an acceptable solution to the conflict, highlighting the two-state solution based on the borders in place before the 1967 war, with East Al-Quds as the capital of the an independent state of Palestine, as the only viable way out of the conflict. It is imperative to cooperate with international peacekeepers and global bodies over efforts to protect the rights of the Palestinian people, the statement said, reiterating that any acceptable solution to the Middle East conflict should adhere to the Arab peace initiative and international law. The Palestinian authorities deemed Trump's plan as biased towards Israel. --SPA 23:47 LOCAL TIME 20:47 GMT 0009 www.spa.gov.sa/w1257833
